Simultaneous Free Fibula and Anterolateral Thigh Flap in Lower Extremity Reconstruction Following Osteomyelitis in a Trauma Patient: A Case Report

نویسندگان

چکیده

This case report focuses on a 17-year-old polytrauma patient who suffered septic wound infection after an open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) soft tissue reconstruction with pedicled flap, which led to substantial bone defect of the lower leg. After thorough antibiotic treatment ensuring non-septic wound, was reconstructed using contralateral free fibula flap designed as flow through in double loop manner accommodate two fibular fragments ipsilateral ALT flap. Early weight bearing initiated 11 days transfer under external fixation, full achieved 36 fixation. removal able be reinitiated 13 days, leading patient’s return normal activity 6 months bony reconstruction. presents innovative approach treating complex defect, final decision separate flaps instead single osteofasciocutaneous resulting good coverage, use enabling early rehabilitation.

Lower Extremity Reconstruction Using Vastus Lateralis Myocutaneous Flap versus Anterolateral Thigh Fasciocutaneous Flap

BACKGROUND The anterolateral thigh (ALT) perforator flap has become a popular option for treating soft tissue defects of lower extremity reconstruction and can be combined with a segment of the vastus lateralis muscle. We present a comparison of the use of the ALT fasciocutaneous (ALT-FC) and myocutaneous flaps. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed patients in whom free-tissue transfer was per...

Anterolateral thigh free flap for simultaneous reconstruction of digital extensor tendon and defect of the dorsal hand: A case report

This paper describes a new technique in the repair of the hand defect with digital extensor tendon injury. The anterolateral thigh flap with the thick femoral fascia has been used in the reconstruction of the composite defect of the dorsal hand, especially the defect of tendon. This technique requires short period of treatment and hence causes less damage to the donor site but shows a better re...

Anterolateral thigh adipofascial flap in mucosal reconstruction.

IMPORTANCE This study describes a reliable technique for mucosal reconstruction of large defects using components of a common free flap technique. OBJECTIVE To review the harvest technique and the varied scenarios in which the anterolateral thigh adipofascial flap (ALTAF) can be used for mucosal restoration in oral cavity and nasal reconstruction. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS A retrosp...

Differences between the Upper Extremity and the Lower Extremity in Reconstruction Using an Anterolateral Thigh Perforator Flap

BACKGROUND While reconstruction of soft tissue defects is the common purpose, surgical reconstructions of upper extremities and lower extremities have different goals in terms of functional and aesthetic outcomes. The purpose of the current study was to compare and analyze differences between reconstructions of upper extremities and lower extremities using an anterolateral thigh (ALT) flap. M...
